Cremation

The first cremation, in modern times in Sweden, took place in 1886.

Coffin ignites, spontaneous combustion

It wasn´t until the 1930´s that cremation became generally accepted in Sweden.

The high temperature makes the coffin ignite.
The temperature in the incinerator is 800-1000° Centigrade.

Coffin burning in the incinerator The material of the coffin has to be combustible. This is necessary for the body to be able to be cremated.
Cranium burning in the crematorium incinerator To cremate a grown-up person takes 1 to 1,5 hours.
